Have you missed our buddy, Homer? WTWO News ‘Good Day Live‘ (GDL) was back to our Terre Haute center recently to check in the progress of this family of friendly faces.
As you may remember, Homer is a fun-loving 3-year-old who also happens to have autism spectrum disorder (ASD). At the start of Hopebridge’s partnership with GDL for Autism Awareness Month in April, they spoke to his parents, Laura and Kevin, about his goals. Homer loves to learn, so one of the objectives they set out for him was to enroll in preschool.
Fast-forward to October, and their wish has been granted (but not without hard work, of course!). His mother attributes it to encouragement and the passionate preschool preparation from Hopebridge therapists who view his goals as their own.
Next up now that his language skills are progressing well and he is attending school? His parents want to focus on social skills in unstructured settings. Find out more about Homer in the news segment.

Want to keep up with Homer’s journey? Kevin keeps a blog, ‘Homer’s Odyssey,’ where you can follow along with our little hero.
