The Hopebridge Autism Therapy Center opened a new facility in Elkhart today as they look to provide a healthy life to the children in community.
The center is 12,000 square feet, with 33 rooms, all for the children the center plans to accommodate with 1-on-1 attention.
“So, we serve kiddos from about age 2-9 and we are an autism center that will treat children on the spectrum from very lower on the spectrum to very high on the spectrum,” said Hopebridge Analyst Lisa Jones.
Allowing children to be themselves, while assisting them to a healthy lifestyle, where one day, they can attend school with confidence and awareness are just some of the goals the center has for their patients.
The parents of the children also believe this is the best place for kids in the community to be if they are on the autism spectrum.”
They use methods of teaching here, that are really geared towards children on the spectrum. It’s a very intensive program based on the ABA theory. But for my son it truly worked very, very well,” said parent Marc Parker.
Organizers say that 1 in every 54 children are diagnosed with autism and besides this being closer for those that drive to the South Bend Hopebridge location, the aim is to assist the children.”
Simple things that are simple to us, are not always simple to somebody on the spectrum. It’s really their social reading queues are challenged and Hopebridge that uses ABA, that’s the way to really get them to improve the trajectory of their lives,” said Parker.
