If you ask our Hopebridge team, one of the best things about Sunday morning is the routine of waking up, grabbing a cup of coffee, and catching CBS Sunday Morning on TV. What makes this part of the day even better? During a recent episode, the show highlighted inspirational individuals and companies making a difference in the world of autism and beyond.
Even if they have the skills that match, it can unfortunately be more difficult for individuals with autism to get hired for jobs than their neurotypical counterparts; many times due to the traditional interview process. CBS Sunday Morning showed a side of the industry that is aiming to change that.
Companies like Microsoft, Ford, and JP Morgan are not only hiring individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), they are specifically seeking to bring them into the workforce. These brands recognized that people with ASD and other disorders or disabilities may look at the world in a different way, and by harnessing that, they can make their products and services even stronger.
If you missed it, don’t worry. Here’s the clip sharing the details of the hiring programs and the reasons behind them:
Do you know of any companies that are working towards becoming more inclusive of those with autism or disabilities? Share with us on the Hopebridge Facebook page to help spotlight them for our other families and friends.
